South Asian Art History Student Symposium and Orion Lecture in Fine Arts: “Modern Ecologies: KCS Paniker’s Painted Gardens”
The Department of Art History & Visual Studies presents a day long South Asian Art History Student Symposium, with a feature keynote speaker Dr. Rebecca Brown.

This Orion lecture is a hybrid event: it will be delivered live in FIA 103, but can be viewed online via Zoom. It is part of larger, full-day South Asian Art History Student Symposium, which will be beginning at 10:00 am, but those interested in the Rebecca M. Brown lecture may attend from 1:00 pm. All are welcome at both events.

Dr. Brown's lecture explores KCS Paniker’s art. Paniker's work explodes with vibrant life, both vegetal and animal, all carefully arranged alongside the marks humans make to seek understanding of the world: writing, math, charts, and astrology. His work thus presents an ecology of human-animal-plant mutuality, one of painted, curated modernist “gardens.”
